The Family Wreath

Genealogy
Are you climbing your Family Tree?  The Viney and Dolan Family genealogy was started in the 1970's by my Grandma, Doris Mae Nicolle Griffin, and my Mom, Janet Griffin Viney.  The Primary Focus of our research are the Viney, Griffin, Dolan, and Craig Families but other important lines in this research include Belk, Boyles, Galt, Leech, Lewis, Lockard, Mahon, McDonald, Monahan, Nicolle, Strubel, and Turner.  If your research connects with ours, we would love to hear from you.

Nicolle Group

Nicolle Group
This is a Yahoo Group dedicated to a one-name surname project for the surname Nicolle. This group is focused on researching the lines of the Nicolle Family descended from Charles Nicolle (b.1793 L'Heure, France) and his children Charles John Nicolle (1821-1855), John Charles Nicolle (1826-1915), Elias Nicolle (1828-1926), Peter Nicolle, and Sophia Nicolle (Tessier) (b.1831). Anyone researching any of these Nicolle family lines will be able to use this group as a resource for genealogy to share information with other Nicolle researchers.

Discussion topics on this Group will be considered open and freewheeling. All we ask is that everyone is treated with the same courtesy that you would expect from others. This is a Restricted Group so Approval to Join must be granted by the Moderator. When joining, please tell us a little bit about yourself and why you would like to join the Nicolle Genealogy Group.

Joel and Peggy VineyAbout Us:

Welcome to our web site. Here you'll learn more about us than you could possibly want to know. Have a look around and enjoy! We live in Tacoma, WA in the Great Pacific Northwest. We met in Bremerton, WA in 1994 when Peggy moved north from Southern California. We started (long distance) dating in 1997 after I moved down to Eugene, OR. And then married in 2000 after I moved back up to Washington. We now have a 2 Year Old daughter named Catherine who is the joy of our lives and live in a Turn of the Previous Century home in Tacoma, WA. We are kept in line by the real owners of the home: 3 unionized cats and two dogs with ADD.

Interests:

Both of us have a variety of interests to keep us out of trouble . . or in trouble as the case may be.

We have a strong interest in researching our family histories. We upgraded the online genealogy section of our site to PhpGedView v4.1.3. This is a great Content Management System which allows you to view and edit your genealogy on your website. Please come in, look around, and see if we're long lost cousins. Any information that aids our research would be greatly appreciated.

We are interested in the history and the recreation of the Arts and Sciences of the Middle Ages. Both of us have been members of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) for around 20 years. Locally, we play in the Kingdom of An Tir (Washington/Oregon/Western Canada) and the Barony of Blatha an Oir (Tacoma/Pierce County, WA).

We've also own a Needlework Supply store in Tacoma, WA on 6th Avenue. It is called Krazy Kat Fiberhaus. We put together a website and hope to have an online store up and running soon.

Hope you enjoy our site,
Joel, Peggy, and Cate

Joomla! Overview PDF Print E-mail

If you're new to Web publishing systems, you'll find that Joomla! delivers sophisticated solutions to your online needs. It can deliver a robust enterprise-level Web site, empowered by endless extensibility for your bespoke publishing needs. Moreover, it is often the system of choice for small business or home users who want a professional looking site that's simple to deploy and use.

So what's the catch? How much does this system cost?

Well, there's good news ... and more good news! Joomla! 1.5 is free, it is released under an Open Source license - the GNU/General Public License v 2.0. Had you invested in a mainstream, commercial alternative, there'd be nothing but moths left in your wallet and to add new functionality would probably mean taking out a second mortgage each time you wanted to add something!

Joomla! changes all that ...
Joomla! is different from the normal models for content management software. For a start, it's not complicated. Joomla! has been developed for everybody, and anybody can develop it further. It is designed to work (primarily) with other Open Source, free, software as well as PHP, MySQL, and Apache.

It is easy to install and administer, and is reliable.

Joomla! doesn't even require the user or administrator of the system to know HTML to operate it once it's up and running.

To get the perfect Web site with all the functionality that you require for your particular application may take additional time and effort, but with the Joomla! Community support that is available and the many Third Party Developers actively creating and releasing new Extensions for the 1.5 platform on an almost daily basis, there is likely to be something out there to meet your needs. Or you could develop your own Extensions and make these available to the rest of the community.

Preserve the Kalakala

MV Kalakala

The MV Kalakala is a former ferry that operated on Puget Sound from 1935 until her retirement in 1967.  The Kalakala was notable for her unique streamlined superstructure, art deco styling, and luxurious amenities. The vessel was a popular attraction for locals and tourists, and was voted second only to the Space Needle in popularity among visitors to Seattle during the 1962 Seattle World's Fair. The ship is known as the world's first streamlined vessel for its unique art deco styling.

The Washington State Ferry System is unique and part of our Northwest Heritage.  The Kalakala Alliance Foundation is working to preserve the MV Kalakala and the Black Ball Line and  is asking you to sign this petition and to add a link of the MV Kalakala petition onto your site.
